The Macallan and Alexis Galleries’ Latest Exhibition Becomes a Nexus for Lagos’s Cultural Leaders. Newzspy.

The private viewing of Chukwuemeka Michael Osisiego’s “A Prayer Book” on Saturday, September 20, solidified the partnership between The Macallan and Alexis Galleries as a premier convener for Lagos’s cultural and business elite. The event drew a discerning crowd of seasoned art collectors, prominent business figures, and tastemakers to the Victoria Island gallery for an exclusive evening of art and whisky.

The sustained collaboration, which has previously delivered acclaimed exhibitions like “Mirrors of Our Time” and “Recycling Matters I” , has successfully cultivated a reputation for curating high-calibre cultural moments. The attendance at Saturday’s event underscored its status as a must-attend fixture on the city’s social calendar for those at the intersection of art, luxury, and influence.

Our journey with Alexis Galleries has always been about celebrating mastery and craftsmanship in all its forms. “With ‘A Prayer Book,’ we are proud to spotlight the unique voice of an exceptional artist like Chukwuemeka Michael Osisiego. His dedication to his medium mirrors The Macallan’s own pursuit of uncompromised excellence. This is a testament to our belief in the power and potential of Nigerian creativity,”  said Hammed Adebiyi, Senior Brand Manager, Nigeria & West and Central Africa (WACA), Edrington Portfolio.

Guests engaged in quiet conversation, networking amidst Osisiego’s powerful woodworks while enjoying a curated tasting of The Macallan single malts. The atmosphere was one of shared appreciation, not just for the art, but for the sophisticated environment the partnership consistently provides.  The evening was also a powerful display of community, with a number of artists-friends coming around to support Osisiego.

“Our goal has always been to create a space where art, craftsmanship, and conversation can flourish,” said the curator of this exhibition, on behalf of Patty Chidiac-Mastrogiannis, Founder of the Alexis Gallery. “The fact that so many of Lagos’s most respected collectors and connoisseurs choose to spend their evening with us is the highest compliment. It affirms our commitment to contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s vibrant cultural landscape.”

The consistent turnout of influential figures at these events signals the partnership’s success in creating a powerful cultural nexus in the heart of Lagos.
