Moses Babatope Unveils Multi-Million Dollar Investment/Funding Film Venture – Nile Media Entertainment Group.√√√Newzspy.

Group CEO, Moses Babatope has announced the launch of the Nile Media Entertainment Group, an expansive media and entertainment company dedicated to providing services in film production, distribution, cinema experiences, and talent building across Africa.

The Nile Group aims to redefine the landscape of African media, leveraging a substantial multi-million dollar investment/funding to drive growth and development across the industry. Over the years, the entertainment industry has grown tremendously, contributing around 5% of Nigeria’s GDP. Within this rapidly changing environment, Nile has identified opportunities for further growth in untapped markets within the West African and sub-Saharan African regions.

According to Babatope, the company will focus on creating, showcasing, and distributing content globally with its multifaceted approach, encompassing film production, distribution, cinema experiences, and talent development.

“We are taking a grand approach to transform the industry. Seeing how much we have grown over the years, our vision is not only to celebrate and amplify African stories globally but also to create more revenue streams and deliver exceptional returns for our investors. By leveraging cutting-edge technology and tapping into the vast pool of African talent, we are aiming to set new industry standards and drive significant economic growth. This is an exciting time for us, and we are happy to reshape the future of African entertainment.”

The Nile Group operates through five entities: Nile Entertainment, Nile Cinemas,  Nile Motion Pictures, Nile Studio Lab, and the Nile Foundation. Nile Entertainment  will manage distribution across Africa, the US, the UK, Canada, and other key international markets including South America, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia. According to Moses Babatope, Nile Entertainment has secured both local and international distribution rights for over 31 titles. Nile Entertainment is opening on a strong note with the highly anticipated third instalment of Omoni Oboli’s Wives on Strike 3.

In addition, Nile Entertainment has acquired Global rights for an impressive slate of productions, including Linda Ikeji’s latest true crime film offering “The Night of June 7” directed by Toka McBaror, “The Artefact” a GenZ themed multi-million naira Action/Adventure written, directed and produced by Tolu Awobiyi a long term collaborator with Moses, “Banke” an intense drama starring  Daniel Etim Effiong and Bolaji Ogunmola produced by respected Nollywood veteran filmmaker Emma Isikaku, “Is It Your Money” a one of its kind highly sought after documentary series created and produced by the award-winning media personality Chude Jideonwo, “Afrobeats Backstory Season 2” the follow-up to the widely acclaimed Afrobeats origins docu-series by the enigmatic Ayo Shonnaiya and “The Wives” a faith-based documentary series directed by young fast-rising sensational filmmaker Orire Nwani who rose to the fore with his Amazon Prime licensed series Grind. Complementing its distribution capabilities, Nile Cinemas will be at the forefront of cinema management, overseeing operations for THC Cinemas Ifako-Ijaiye, Lagos and Royal Roots Cinemas Ikota, Lagos and more coming up. Through Nile Screens, the company will also provide cinema operations services for a new screening initiative called Filmhub.

With the high demand for premium, personalised cinema experiences on the rise, Babatope hints that Nile X in collaboration with one of the leading Cinema chains in Nigeria is set to introduce private luxury pods, offering an exclusive and immersive viewing experience. The Pods cater to a discerning audience that seeks more than just a film screening. This venture taps into a niche market, blending the allure of cinema with the sophistication of gourmet dining, luxurious seating, and advanced audio-visual technology.

As the production arm of the group, Nile Motion Pictures will develop and produce a wide range of original content. Notable projects include an untitled romantic drama with Kayode Kasum’s FilmTrybe, an action-thriller “The Porters” produced in collaboration with Wingonia Ikpi’s Boxonia Blueprint Productions, and the faith-based drama “Oluwaloni” in partnership with Biodun Stephen’s Shutterspeed Projects.

Production partnerships include collaborations with Ifedayo Agoro, a renowned Nigerian entrepreneur, digital storyteller, and community manager of Diary of A Naija Girl (DANG): DANG. A 1m-strong community of women passionate about authentic storytelling.

At the heart of Nile Group’s creative endeavours, Nile Studio Lab focuses on producing high-quality films and TV series for both in-house projects and third-party productions. A recent agreement with an International Studio Consortium has been reached.

Nile Group’s international partnerships include collaborations with IFEC UK, Continental Entertainment, Invention Studios, Amplify Africa, TMPL Motion Pictures, Cinemax Distribution, Papaya, Nigerian International Film & TV summit and Africa Cinema Summit. These alliances are aimed at expanding the reach of African stories and ensuring their global impact.

Dedicated to social impact, The Nile Foundation will drive community development initiatives through a series of masterclasses for filmmakers, sponsoring small projects, and discovering new talents in Africa. By investing in local talent and supporting grassroots projects, The Nile Foundation aims to foster a thriving and inclusive film industry across the continent.

Moses Babatope, with over 20 years of experience in film exhibition, production, distribution, marketing and sales, has been credited with many firsts in the Nigerian film industry. He has championed the global distribution of Nigerian blockbuster films, including the highest-grossing film of all time in West Africa, A Tribe Called Judah, as well as Battle on Buka Street, Omo Ghetto: The Saga, The Wedding Party movies, King of Boys, The Merry Men movies, and others.

He is also responsible for the first set of direct major theatrical distribution deals with leading studios in Hollywood including Walt Disney Company, resulting in the highest-grossing Hollywood film in West Africa, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Additionally, he collaborated with Warner Brothers and Sony Pictures distributing in West Africa hits like Barbie, Aquaman 1 and 2, Black Adam, Spiderman: No way home, Venom 2 and The Woman King. As a pioneer in the global digital distribution of Nigerian and African content, Moses has secured multi-picture, multi-year licensing deals with worldwide streaming giants such as Netflix and Amazon.

For millions of Nigerians, clear vision is often taken for granted until blurred sight begins to steal the simple joys of everyday life. Reading a text message, identifying a familiar face across the road, driving safely through traffic, or threading a needle can suddenly become daunting tasks when eye problems go untreated. Yet, across the country, many people continue to live with avoidable visual impairment simply because quality eye care remains beyond their financial reach.

Health experts have repeatedly warned that many eye conditions, including glaucoma and refractive errors, can be effectively managed when detected early. However, poverty, limited awareness, and inadequate access to routine eye examinations continue to deny thousands of Nigerians the opportunity to preserve one of life’s greatest gifts, that is, the ability to see.

Against this backdrop, two young women, long before earning their medical degrees, are already demonstrating what compassionate healthcare leadership can look like.
Through MediServe, a female-led healthcare initiative they founded, aspiring medical students Joy Ogunsan and Soleeha Musa-Etiko are quietly proving that meaningful impact is not determined by age or professional titles but by the willingness to identify a need and respond with compassion.

Their latest intervention unfolded at MeCure HealthCare Limited in Oshodi, one of Lagos’ busiest commercial hubs, where commercial drivers, elderly residents, traders and teenagers gathered at the Debo Industries Compound of MeCure HealthCare Limited to receive the gift of clearer vision. The outreach marked the conclusion of an earlier free eye screening exercise during which about 60 residents underwent comprehensive eye examinations conducted by professional eye care specialists. Following detailed assessments, 14 beneficiaries with the most urgent visual needs were selected to receive specially prescribed medicated glasses, individually produced to match each person’s diagnosis.

For the two co-founders, the exercise was never about distributing spectacles. It was about restoring independence, improving safety and giving people the confidence to carry out everyday activities without unnecessary visual strain.

Soleeha Musa-Etiko, Founder of MediServe said: “We realised that many Nigerians quietly struggle with eye problems without seeking help until the situation becomes severe. The testimonies have been deeply encouraging. Some beneficiaries told us they can now see clearly again, while others said the persistent itching they experienced has stopped. Seeing that transformation is the greatest reward for us.”

According to her, Oshodi was deliberately selected for the initial free eye screening because it offers direct access to commercial drivers, elderly citizens, commuters and other members of the public who may otherwise have limited access to routine eye care.

Her co-founder, Joy Ogunsan, explained that although MediServe has broader healthcare ambitions, eye health became their first area of intervention after observing the increasing number of Nigerians living with preventable visual problems. “We’ve seen many elderly people struggling with poor vision, and we’ve also come across cases of glaucoma and other eye diseases that often go unnoticed until they become serious,” she said.

“We wanted to contribute our own quota by making eye care accessible to people who ordinarily may not be able to afford it.”

Despite being students preparing for university, both young women have balanced academic responsibilities with fundraising, partnership development and community mobilisation to sustain the initiative. They acknowledged that securing institutional support was one of their biggest challenges, but support eventually came through family members, friends, sponsors and healthcare partners who believed in their vision.

The partner on the project, MeCure Eye Centre described the outreach as different from many community eye programmes because each beneficiary received glasses specially prescribed after thorough clinical evaluation.

The Chief Optometrist, Dr. Comfort Ikedieze Isaac highlighted: “The glasses were individually prepared to serve both distance and near vision. Many people attend eye outreaches expecting ready-made glasses, but these prescriptions were specifically designed for each beneficiary after careful examination,”she explained.

She also stressed the importance of routine eye examinations, noting that dangerous conditions such as glaucoma often progress silently before symptoms become obvious. “Many patients only present when the disease has reached an advanced stage,” she said. “Early detection remains the best way to preserve vision.”

For beneficiaries, the impact was immediate and deeply personal. Mr. Kelechi Okwuosa, who received prescription glasses for the first time, described the experience as life-changing.
“I used to struggle with blurred vision whenever I wanted to read,” he said. “Now I can read comfortably, even on my phone. Everything is much clearer.”

Mrs. Olarenwaju Funmilayo also expressed gratitude after years of struggling with blurry vision. “I can now see clearly,” she said with excitement. “These young ladies have helped many people in our community. I pray God continues to bless them.”

A 14-year old beneficiary, Muiz Balogun, said the persistent itching that had troubled his eyes had significantly reduced after receiving his glasses.

Beyond the distribution of prescription lenses, the outreach became a powerful reminder that healthcare interventions do not always begin inside large hospitals or require billion-naira budgets. Sometimes, they begin with two determined young people who refuse to overlook the suffering around them.

Looking ahead, Joy Ogunsan and Soleeha Musa-Etiko hope to transform MediServe into a fully established non-profit healthcare organisation capable of reaching underserved communities across Nigeria. Their long-term vision includes expanding into other areas of healthcare, building a strong volunteer network and, ultimately, establishing a hospital that reflects their commitment to accessible and equitable healthcare.

At a time when conversations around healthcare often focus on infrastructure, funding and policy reforms, the story of MediServe offers an important lesson that compassion remains one of medicine’s most powerful tools.

Other dignitaries in attendance during the distribution of the free medicated eye glasses are the Managing Director and CEO of Executive Hotel and Suites, Dr. Ajoke Ogunsan; Consultant Ophthalmologist at MeCure, Dr. Sunday Alabi and Nurse Manager, MeCure, Mrs. Gloria Odok among others.

As part of efforts aimed at preventing conflicts and promoting sustainable peace, members of Rotary International District 9111 yesterday donated  Peace Institute Building to the management of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye Ogun State.

In his speech,  District Governor of Rotary International District 9111, Rotarian Henry Akinyele said the Peace Institute is the District and Rotarians statement that peace must be taught, researched and practised, beginning from campuses and extending into communities.

To him, rather than waiting for conflict to happen, Rotarians chose to prevent it through education, dialogue and research.

Earlier this Rotary year, Akinyele recalled, ‘we organised a Peace Summit where participants agreed with the United Nations that quality education should include peace education. This Institute will train peace builders from different sectors of society in mediation, conflict analysis and non-violent communication’

Saying peace is everyone’s responsibility, Akinyele also added the project demonstrates the power of partnership among Rotary, Olabisi Onabanjo University, government and the wider community working together.

Specifically, he noted, ‘the United Nations also affirmed that conflict is one of the greatest causes of poverty and inequality. When communities are in conflict, schools close, farms are abandoned, businesses suffer and young people lose opportunities.

By investing in peace, we are protecting education, livelihoods and the future of our communities.

In conclusion, he disclosed, ‘today’s commissioning is another example of Rotary keeping its promises. I must acknowledge our Immediate Past District Governor, Dr. Oluwole Kukoyi, who conceived and introduced the three-month Certificate Programme in Peace Building, Conflict Prevention and Security Studies during the 2024–2025 Rotary year.’

In her speech, Ogun State Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele noted that Rotary has made significant contribution by donating the Peace Building.

‘I want to congratulate the Vice Chancellor, management and staff of OOU for the gesture. The facility will support conflict prevention, mediation and community development. ‘ She added.

On her part, OOU Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics,  Prof. Olatundun Abosede stated the facility is an investment in peace promotion. To her, ‘we are deeply grateful to Rotarians for the cause.’

TomTom Continues to Back the Music Talents through its Youth Focus.

Initiatives
Every year, World Music Day serves as a reminder of the powerful role music plays in
shaping culture, identity, and human connection. In Nigeria, especially, music has
become more than entertainment. It is how young people express themselves, tell
their stories, build communities, and increasingly, create opportunities for global
relevance.
From Afrobeats becoming an international force to local sounds influencing pop
culture conversations across the world, Nigeria’s music industry has evolved into one
of the country’s strongest cultural exports. But behind the success stories and
chart-topping moments is a growing need to properly support the next generation of
talents who will carry the industry forward.
For years, TomTom has maintained a strong connection with Nigeria’s youth culture
and entertainment scene, growing beyond a household menthol candy brand into
one that naturally exists within music and pop culture conversations. From major
concerts and live music experiences to youth-focused creative initiatives like; Trace
in the City, and the MTV Base Cypher, the brand has consistently shown up in spaces
that matter to young Nigerians.
In recent time, that relationship with culture is evolving into something more
intentional through initiatives like Breathe Academy, the Breathe For It Summit, and
the Breathe Through It Verse Challenge, platforms designed to support, inspire, and
empower emerging music talents.
As Nigeria’s music industry continues to gain global recognition, there is also growing
awareness around the importance of mentorship, education, and access for
emerging talents. While talent is abundant, many young creatives still struggle with
understanding the business side of music and navigating the realities of an
increasingly competitive industry.
This is part of what makes initiatives like Breathe Academy relevant. TomTom’s online learning platform created to help aspiring artists and creatives
better understand both the craft and business of music. At a time when many young
talents are trying to navigate an increasingly competitive industry, access to
practical knowledge and mentorship has become just as important as talent itself.
Through curated learning sessions, industry-led conversations, and expert insights,
participants gain exposure to areas like branding, music distribution, content
creation, marketing, audience building, and career development. The platform is
helping simplify industry knowledge in a way that feels practical, relatable, and
accessible for young creatives trying to find their footing.
Ahead of World Music Day, TomTom continues to strengthen its position as a brand
that understands and contributes to Nigeria’s music culture not only through
entertainment experiences, but also by helping create opportunities for the next
generation of artists, creators, and music entrepreneurs to grow and succeed.
