BREAKING: Federal Government Declares Friday, Monday Public Holidays for Eid-el-Kabir Celebration. ✓✓✓ Newzspy.

In preparation for the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir festivities, the Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays. This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement released on behalf of the Federal Government on Monday.

The declaration is aimed at allowing Muslims across the country ample time to observe and celebrate Eid-ul-Adha, also known as Eid-el-Kabir, one of the most significant festivals in the Islamic calendar. Eid-el-Kabir, a time of reflection, sacrifice, and devotion, commemorates the unwavering faith and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (Peace Be Upon Him) to the will of Allah.

In his message to the Muslim community in Nigeria and the Diaspora, Minister Tunji-Ojo extended heartfelt congratulations and felicitations, urging the Ummah to embody the true spirit of Eid—sacrifice, faith, and unity. He emphasized the importance of fostering national peace, harmony, and progress, especially in these challenging times.

“I congratulate the entire Muslim Ummah both in Nigeria and across the world on this important occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. May this period bring blessings, unity, and renewed faith in our hearts. Let us remember the values of sacrifice, obedience, and selflessness demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim, and use this moment to reflect on how we can contribute to building a better Nigeria,” the Minister stated.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo also used the opportunity to encourage Nigerians of all faiths to join hands with the current administration in its efforts to transform the nation through its Renewed Hope Agenda. He assured citizens that the Federal Government remains committed to implementing people-centered reforms and policies that will propel Nigeria towards sustainable development, national cohesion, and economic prosperity.

“Let us leverage the lessons of Eid-ul-Adha to foster love, unity, and togetherness among ourselves. As a government, we are committed to delivering reforms and policies that will restore the glory of Nigeria and put her on the path of greatness,” the Minister added.

The Federal Government’s decision to declare the public holidays will allow Muslim faithful and all Nigerians to observe the religious rites, spend quality time with family, and reflect on the values that promote a united and peaceful nation.

Eid-el-Kabir, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is celebrated by Muslims globally to honor the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command, a story that symbolizes unwavering faith, trust in God, and selflessness. The festival is marked by prayers, the slaughtering of sacrificial animals, sharing of food with family, friends, and the less privileged, as well as charitable acts.

As Nigerians prepare to celebrate, the Minister also called on citizens to pray for the continued peace, stability, and prosperity of the country.
