BREAKING NEWS: Sultan Declares Friday as Eid-el-Fitr, Confirms Shawwal Moon Not Sighted.

The Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, who is also the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), has officially announced that the crescent moon marking the beginning of Shawwal has not been sighted across Nigeria.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Sultan disclosed that reports from the National Moon Sighting Committees across the country confirmed the absence of the Shawwal crescent after careful observation. The announcement was made through the Sultanate Council Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs.

As a result, Muslims in Nigeria will complete the 30 days of Ramadan fasting, and **Friday has now been declared as Eid-el-Fitr**, the day set aside for the celebration marking the end of the holy month.

The Sultan urged the Muslim faithful to remain steadfast in the virtues learned during Ramadan, including patience, charity, and devotion to Allah. He also called for continued prayers for peace, unity, and progress in Nigeria.

Eid-el-Fitr, one of the most significant celebrations in Islam, is traditionally marked with special prayers, acts of charity (Zakat al-Fitr), and gatherings among family and friends.

Further details and official Eid prayer arrangements are expected to be communicated by local Islamic leaders across states.
