NAOSNP Felicitates with Tunji Disu on Appointment As Acting IGP, Salutes Egbetokun’s Gallant Efforts
The National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) has congratulated the immediate past Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID Annex Alagbon, AIG Olatunji Rilwan Disu on his career elevation to the peak in the Nigeria Police Force, following his appointment as the Acting Inspector-General of Police by President Bola Tinubu.
Ag. IGP Disu takes over from IGP Kayode Egbetokun, who resigned to attend to family matters.
In a statement signed by the Association’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Eric Elezuo, the frontline security news beat acknowledged the years of policing expertise, integrity and professionalism of the new Acting IGP, noting that his appointment at this present time of the nation’s history is very well deserved and highly commended, and will boost Police officers morale, reduce crime and criminality to the barest minimum across the country.
“The National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) is pleased to identify with the appointment of a super cop well known for integrity, remarkable track records of Mr. Olatunji Rilwan Disu as the new Acting Inspector-General of Police. His appointment is a typical example of a round peg in a round hole as a result of his policing intelligence, steadfastness on the job, integrity and unalloyed patriotism to both fatherland and the Police Force.
“We have followed your career trajectory, and can convincingly conclude that President Bola Tinubu couldn’t have made a better choice.
“While believing that you will bring your years of experience in policing to bear in this new assignment national assignment, we congratulate you for attaining to the peak of your career, and pledge our utmost commitment to assist wherever necessary as a security reporting association, desirous of seeing a crime-free Nigeria,” the statement noted.
Also appreciating the Acting IGP’s appointment, NAOSNP’s National President, Mayor Oki Olatunji Samson, lauded President Tinubu for the making the right choice in the person of Ag. IGP Disu, stressing that it’s obvious that the number one cop will definitely deliver on his mandate of restoring peace and security in the Nation and sanitizing the Force.
“Disu is a name synonymous with policing in this country, and he has proven his mettle in all positions and locations he has so far found himself in his years of excellent service.
“Sir, we congratulate you on this well deserved appointment, and wish you a most wonderful tenure,” Mayor Oki noted.
Until his appointment, Mr. Disu served as Assistant Inspector-General in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos.
He was promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police last year.
Before then, he served as Commissioner of Police in Rivers State with outstanding achievements and was later deployed by retired IGP Egbetokun to the FCT Command as Commissioner.
The former AIG is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and a former head of the Intelligence Response Team of the Nigeria Police Force, a position previously held by Abba Kyari.
The Lagos state born Police officer served exceptional with exemplary leadership during his tenure as Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), popularly known as the ‘Good Boys’ in Lagos.
Ag. IGP Tunji Disu was born on April 13, 1966, in Lagos Island and enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992.
Over the course of his career, he has served as Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in several locations, including Ago Iwoye in Ogun State, Ikare and Owo in Ondo State, as well as Elimbu and Elelenwo in Rivers State.
Meanwhile, NAOSNP salutes the efforts of the immediate past retired IGP Kayode Egbetokun, whose leadership affected the media Association positively in many ways.
“We further recall the desirable leadership advantage perpetrated by the immediate past IGP Kayode Egbetokun. I thank you for giving your best to the nation, and to the profession you loved so much.
“Once and again, you had reached out to NAOSNP, including attending our annual National Security Conference as a Keynote speaker and distinguished award recipient as NAOSNP Man of the year, through the then Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi,” the statement further stressed.
Acting IGP Tunji Disu has since assumed office.
