Nollywood star actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has shed light on why she continues to actively promote her blockbuster film, Behind The Scenes, despite the movie’s remarkable commercial success at the box office.
The award-winning filmmaker made the clarification on Monday via her Snapchat page after receiving a message from a follower who questioned the need for further publicity. According to the message, the film had already grossed over ₦2.6 billion, raising curiosity about why the promotional campaign was still ongoing.
Responding in a video shared with her fans, Akindele explained that her motivation goes beyond financial gains.
“Someone sent a message to me, and he said, ‘Behind The Scenes has grossed over ₦2.6 billion. Why are you still promoting it?’” she recounted.
The actress said she initially felt relaxed about the impressive milestone but quickly reflected on what truly drives her career.
“I told the person, it’s not about the money. No, it’s not about the money. The most important thing is consistency,” she said.
Akindele emphasized that sustained effort and continuous engagement are key ingredients for long-term success in the highly competitive Nigerian film industry. According to her, maintaining momentum is essential not only for breaking personal records but also for setting new industry standards.
“If you want to be successful, if you want to keep breaking your record, you want to keep breaking new grounds, you have to be consistent with whatever you are doing. You have to be,” she added.
