President Tinubu, who has been at the helm of ECOWAS during a period of significant political upheaval, acknowledged the challenges posed by the withdrawal of the three nations from the regional bloc. “It is in our hearts to ensure that security is enhanced and that constitutional government is defended and promoted in our region,” he emphasized, reflecting the core mission of ECOWAS to maintain peace, security, and democratic governance across West Africa.

“It has been a challenging tenure for me since three members indicated their exit. We will work hard to persuade them to return, whichever way,” President Tinubu stated.
