Lagos, September 26, 2024 – In a ceremony held on Tuesday, September 24th, SystemSpecs, a leading software technology company, presented Lagos State with the Winning State award for the 2024 Children’s Day Essay Competition (CDEC). After emerging victorious in the highly competitive contest, Lagos State was honoured with 20 laptops and the prestigious award, following the impressive performance of its 19 students who ranked among the top 50 essay submissions across the country.

For the past five years, the CDEC has catalysed the promotion of technological awareness nationwide, serving as a key initiative in fostering tech innovation and skills development among Nigerian youth. The 2024 edition of the competition, which kicked off in February, is part of SystemSpecs’ broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme aimed at nurturing local talent and growing national tech capacity.

This competition, now in its 5th year, is a testament to SystemSpecs’ unwavering dedication to building local capacity for Nigeria’s future digital economy.”

SystemSpecs has been at the forefront of enhancing technological development in Nigeria, championing initiatives that empower students with essential digital awareness, skills and resources. Central to the company’s CSR objectives is a commitment to partnering with the public sector through strategic engagement with a view to closing the technology gap in education and technology awareness among Nigerian children. By celebrating Lagos State’s success in the 2024 CDEC, SystemSpecs reaffirms its dedication to driving national transformation through robust collaborations with diverse stakeholders.

Mr. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, praised the initiative, stating, “We are proud of the strides Lagos State students have made with the CDEC. Technology is now the bedrock of education, and it is initiatives like these that prepare our students to compete globally. Lagos State is committed to partnering with SystemSpecs and other stakeholders to continue empowering our students through tech education.”

With technology playing an increasingly pivotal role in sectors ranging from education to agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare and even finance, Nigeria’s young generation is positioned to compete on a global scale. Initiatives like the CDEC not only promote technological awareness but also foster local talent that can drive innovation in the digital economy.

In his remarks, Mr. Abayomi Abolaji, Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, noted the significance of the awards, “This recognition and the provision of laptops mark an important step in improving the digital readiness of our students. We are grateful to SystemSpecs for their continued investment in education, and we look forward to seeing these tools enhance learning experiences and outcomes in Lagos.”

Mrs. Bukola Adeboye, Executive Director, Corporate Services, SystemSpecs Holdings Limited, expressed her appreciation to all the stakeholders, emphasising SystemSpecs’ dedication to developing local talent. “For the last five years, the CDEC has been instrumental in driving technological awareness across the country, showcasing the value of initiatives like this in shaping Nigeria’s future in the digital space,” she noted.

“Young people are very impressionable and open to learning a lot. SystemSpecs is committed to continuing to invest in them, ensuring they have the tools and knowledge to succeed in our fast-changing world. We are very excited to announce that the next edition of CDEC will open on February 3rd 2025, offering all Nigerian children between the ages of 9 and 16 another opportunity to express their research, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and technological insights,” said Mrs. Adeboye.

Historically, the competition has opened early each year to ensure maximum participation and engagement from students across Nigeria. The sixth edition promises to be even more exciting as CDEC continues to gain momentum, attracting thousands of young minds eager to showcase their innovative ideas.

“We are thrilled about the new students, schools, and parents we will engage with in 2025,” said Mrs. Adeboye. “This competition is becoming more competitive across 36 states including the FCT, and we are looking forward to even greater participation in the coming year. It’s a special opportunity for students to explore technology and develop essential skills that will empower them for the future.”

The entertainment industry has long recognized the potential of collaborations between African and international artists. However, a consistent platform to foster these partnerships has been elusive. Recognizing this need, Mr. Austin Ogbuefi, Chairman/CEO and owner of Stanford Recording Studio, is on a mission to bridge this divide. With the launch of this studio, Austin aims to create an environment where creativity and collaboration can flourish, paving the way for groundbreaking work in both music and film.

The concept for Stanford Recording Studios originated from a pivotal conversation with Professor Eleanor Earl, a film, TV, and music executive who is a member of the management team and a Producer for Peace Industry Music Group/Roc Nation, founded by Mr. John D. Boyd. She proposed the idea of building a recording studio as part of Stanford Studios, aligning perfectly with Austin’s vision of creating a hub for global collaborations. This idea was further developed through discussions with Mr. Terence Rosemore, the director of Austin’s film “Different Worlds,” and evolved into a partnership with Mr. Darryl Ross, a multi-platinum-winning producer, to support a Netflix series featuring African urban music and cross-border collaborations.

“Professor Eleanor’s proposal was transformative,” Austin reflects. “She recognized the potential to bring African musicians into the global spotlight, and we knew Stanford Studios could be the ideal platform for this.”

Stanford Recording Studios is designed to be more than just a facility—it is a creative ecosystem. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, film production facilities, and accommodations for visiting artists, the studio is built to inspire. It will serve as a melting pot for international talent, from musicians to filmmakers, all working together to create culturally rich content. Additionally, the plans to launch Stanford Records and an exchange program between African and Hollywood musicians underscore the studio’s commitment to fostering long-term collaboration.

Austin’s vision extends beyond music and film production. He plans to create a documentary series that highlights the rich cultural heritage of African music and its growing influence on global trends. A major music festival is also in the works, aiming to bring artists from around the world together to celebrate and collaborate. Looking ahead, there are plans to open another Stanford Recording Studio in Atlanta, further strengthening the bridge between African and global talent.

“Stanford Recording Studios is not just a facility,” Austin explains. “It marks the beginning of something much larger. We are creating a platform that will elevate both the Nigerian and global music and film industries by offering a space for true innovation and collaboration.”

With support from industry veterans like Professor Eleanor Earl and Darryl Ross, Stanford Recording Studios is poised to make a significant impact in the entertainment world. As it prepares to open its doors, the future of global music and film collaborations looks exceptionally promising.

In a heartwarming gesture of goodwill, international businessmen and investors in Nigeria, Messrs Sudeep Ramnani and Jai Mahtani, have extended their philanthropic outreach to the less privileged communities within the Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and Eti-Osa Local Government Area (LGA) of Lagos State. This initiative, which took place last Friday, was part of their continued efforts to give back to society in commemoration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary, celebrated on 1st October.

Screenshot_20241014-113742 International Businessmen Extend Philanthropic Efforts to Underprivileged Communities in Lagos as Part of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Celebration.√√√Newzspy.

The businessmen, known for their active engagement in Nigeria’s economic landscape, chose to commemorate the occasion by contributing to the fight against hunger and food poverty in the country. Through their representative, Beulah Akingbel-Banjo, they distributed large quantities of essential food items to members of these communities, underscoring their commitment to improving the welfare of Nigerian citizens.

According to a statement released by the duo, their philanthropic initiative is in line with the Federal Government’s efforts to address the pressing issue of hunger, which has been exacerbated by recent economic challenges. “There is no better way to celebrate Nigeria than to contribute to the welfare and well-being of its people. It is our belief that the private sector has a role to play in alleviating some of the burdens faced by citizens, particularly the most vulnerable,” Ramnani and Mahtani said.

This outreach is not a one-off effort. The businessmen have expressed their commitment to expanding the initiative across Nigeria, with the ambitious plan of reaching every Local Government Area (LGA) in the country over the next few years. Their strategy involves covering two LGAs at a time, ensuring that the support reaches a wide range of communities and has a lasting impact.

The choice of Yaba LCDA and Eti-Osa LGA for this phase of the outreach is significant, as both areas host a mix of urban and suburban populations with varying levels of socio-economic challenges. By selecting these LGAs, the businessmen hope to address not just food scarcity but also the deeper systemic issues of poverty that affect residents of these communities.

Residents who benefited from the initiative expressed their deep appreciation for the assistance. Many noted that with rising food prices and a high cost of living, the support could not have come at a better time. “We are grateful for this gesture. It means a lot to us, especially during these challenging times,” said one resident of Yaba LCDA, who received a package of food supplies.

This outreach forms part of a broader effort by Ramnani and Mahtani to create sustainable impact through their investments and social initiatives. Beyond their business dealings, they have continued to use their platforms to drive positive change and support underserved populations across Nigeria.

As the initiative progresses, it is expected to garner more attention and possibly inspire other members of the business community to engage in similar efforts. The collaboration between private sector leaders and the government is seen as crucial to addressing the country’s socio-economic challenges, particularly in areas such as food security, education, and healthcare.

As Nigeria continues to navigate its path to development post-Independence, gestures like this serve as a reminder of the power of unity and collective responsibility in fostering a better future for all citizens.

With this initiative, Ramnani and Mahtani are not just celebrating Nigeria’s past but also contributing to its future by empowering communities and uplifting lives, one LGA at a time.
