G Media Studios, an animation studio renowned for its innovative storytelling, is thrilled to announce that its short film, “Keffa The Curious Goat,” has been nominated for three prestigious awards in the United States. The film has captivated audiences and judges alike with its rich storytelling and cultural significance.

“Keffa The Curious Goat” is a story about the adventure of a curious and clever goat that pulls her herd and their herder, Kaldi through a series of exciting adventures that lead to a pleasant discovery.

The film has been nominated for Best General Animation Film at the AfroAnimation Animation Summit 3rd Annual Indie Short Animation Film Awards; Best Animated Short at the Queens Underground Black History International Film Festival, recognized for its unique portrayal of Ethiopian folklore and contribution to Black cultural heritage; and Best Animation at the San Francisco Black Film Festival.

The film has also recently been nominated for yet another award in Nigeria – Best Animated Short in the Lifanima. This accomplishment brings the animation to four nominations worldwide.

Bereket Taffese, the creative force behind G Media Studios, expressed his pride in the team’s achievements, stating, “These nominations are a testament to our dedication to creating high-quality, culturally resonant content. Our team’s recognition at these prestigious festivals validates our efforts and commitment to diversity in storytelling.”

While “Keffa The Curious Goat” is currently not available for public viewing as it continues its festival circuit, G Media Studios plans to host a screening event and release the trailer soon. The film, developed entirely in-house—from script to screen—by a passionate team of Ethiopian artists, represents a significant milestone in African animation and showcases the studio’s comprehensive capabilities.

“Our journey with ‘Keffa The Curious Goat’ has been a celebration of African folklore and a testament to our team’s dedication to cultural storytelling. These nominations truly affirm our commitment to bringing authentic, high-quality animation to the global stage,” said Hiruy Amanuel, Co-Director and Producer of Keffa The Curious Goat.

“We are excited to see how far this animation will go and look forward to sharing more of our work with the world.”

Looking ahead, G Media Studios is actively seeking partnerships with studios and production companies to develop “Keffa The Curious Goat” into a television series or feature film.

“I’m honored to be part of this team, and excited to see what’s more to come for Keffa the Curious Goat.” – Micheal Tekle, Lead 3D Generalist at G Media Studios.

“I had a blast working with the team. Keffa the Curious Goat is a great representation of what we can do, and it’s just the start.” – Yordanos Fikru, 3D Generalist at G Media Studios.

The studio has been collaborating with industry veterans, including Ferdinand producer Lisa Stelter, Jan Wayn Phillip, and Spencer Green, to explore this exciting opportunity. This venture aims to bring African culture and stories to a global audience, further solidifying the studio’s position in the international animation industry.

EMERGING  VOICES AND INSPIRING CHANGE THROUGH FILM.√√√√Newzspy.

Remember the first time you went to the cinema for the first time, the flickering lights, the complete darkness , do you remember the awe you felt and the sense of togetherness you felt with the other viewers as you watched the scenes play across the screen and how you left the cinema feeling like you just returned from another world and how that feeling and glow followed you into the week?,

The Film in the Park festival seeks to reignite that magic, showcasing the works of emerging filmmakers who want to share your love for cinema and storytelling.

Tomiwa Precious Otun, a budding Film producer and lead organizer of the maiden film festival disclosed that The Film in the Park [FLIP] MAIDEN edition themed “Empowering Emerging Voices and Inspiring Change” is dedicated to uncovering and showcasing emerging talent and diverse voices within the film industry.

“This festival promises a showcase of cinematic brilliance, where the art of film is celebrated and harnessed as a powerful tool for cultural documentation and social change.

Tomiwa Otun noted that “the vision is rooted in purpose , the FLIP festival was borne out of a need to document and illuminate our life and times through the creativity of film. Unlike music which is another beloved form of artistic expression, films have a unique and lasting impact, etching themselves into our collective memories.”

She noted “Some people have shared their experiences growing up, how they often found themselves mimicking actors from the films they watched, adopting their walks and accents, captivated by their stories.”

“Consider how most people don’t have favorable opinions of the Nigerian Police, this can be traced to their portrayal in most films. The FLIP festival seeks to contribute positively to this journey by documenting and showcasing the work of budding and exceptional filmmakers.”

“This task is crucial, as the stories we tell today will shape the legacy we leave behind, just like how we are shaped the stories we watched and heard while growing up.”

Tomiwa Otun also adds “while celebrating diversity and resilience, the theme of our festival , “Empowering Voices, Inspiring Change” is a heartfelt tribute to the vibrant and diverse experiences of young Nigerians, it celebrates their creativity and talent amidst the obstacles they face.”

Film in the Park maiden edition of the festival is scheduled to hold this Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Freedom Park, Hospital Road, off Broad Street, Lagos Island, Lagos. And is expected to accommodate over Two hundred film enthusiasts”.

The High Commissioner of Botswana to Nigeria, Philda Nani Kereng, has extended a warm invitation to Nigerians to explore the vast opportunities available in Botswana. In a recent interview with Arise TV, Mrs. Kereng expressed her commitment to strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two countries, which she believes has been underutilized over the years.

Highlighting the untapped potential in areas such as infrastructure development, business collaboration, and tourism, Mrs. Kereng emphasized the need for a more substantial and transformative partnership between Nigeria and Botswana. According to her, the existing relationship has been limited to basic diplomatic engagements, such as visa arrangements, without delving into deeper, mutually beneficial collaborations.

“I don’t know what would be the indicators of a strong relationship in this case, but I must comfortably say we have had a bilateral relationship from a long time back. I remember that the embassies of Nigeria and Botswana have been there for quite a long time,” Mrs. Kereng noted.

However, she admitted that the relationship has not evolved significantly beyond these formalities. She pointed out that while the embassies have existed for a considerable period, the focus has primarily been on routine diplomatic activities, without leveraging the full spectrum of opportunities that could enhance the ties between both nations.

Mrs. Kereng is determined to change this narrative by expanding the scope of collaboration. She envisions a relationship that goes beyond the traditional frameworks to include more dynamic and transformative initiatives. These initiatives would include project-based collaborations that bring tangible benefits to both countries, particularly in the areas of infrastructure development, trade, and tourism.

images-35 "Botswana Welcomes Nigerians: High Commissioner Seeks Expanded Partnership in Business and Tourism".√√√NewZspy.

“And that’s why I am going to focus on expanding the relationship, having more of projects going underground. We want to see more movement of Nigerians going to Botswana to appreciate, whether tourism, is business and so forth,” Mrs. Kereng stated.

The High Commissioner believes that by deepening cooperation, both countries can enjoy a richer and more rewarding partnership. She highlighted that there are numerous strategic areas where Nigeria and Botswana can collaborate, leading to long-term benefits for both nations. These areas include tourism, where she sees potential for Nigerians to explore the unique attractions Botswana has to offer, as well as business opportunities that could foster economic growth in both countries.

“So I must say that we are just seeing from the many years of collaboration that was just minimal and subtle in many ways. We want now to build a relationship where both countries can actually enjoy each other more, more opportunities,” she added.

Mrs. Kereng’s remarks reflect a vision for a future where the relationship between Nigeria and Botswana is characterized by mutual growth and development. Her call for more Nigerians to visit Botswana is part of a broader strategy to enhance people-to-people connections, boost tourism, and encourage business exchanges.

In conclusion, the High Commissioner’s outreach to Nigerians signals a new chapter in the diplomatic relationship between Nigeria and Botswana. By fostering closer ties and encouraging greater interaction, both countries stand to gain significantly from each other’s strengths, paving the way for a stronger and more resilient partnership in the years to come.
